Back up and running tomorrow.

In the meanwhile, enjoy a little drunken mini-rant.

MOTIVES: I started this linchpin as a response to all the stories and text adventures I keep reading where the protagonist either has no choice or only the illusion of choice, or had to automatically accept feminization and enjoy it, as if it were known and accepted and anticipated all along. That, to me, is not an interesting story. What makes a story interesting is the limitation. The physical and emotional conflict. The what-the-fuck bordering on body horror, and a little bit of magic and wonder. A few authors stand out in my mind who use this to its utmost, and after whose stories I have modeled the motivation and mood for Linchpin. Off the top of my head, the two truly exemplary ones are Genni Smith and Red Gambit. Magnificent bastards both, hat's off.

CONTENT: There's a whole lot of shit that I want to put into the story to flesh it out and give more meaning to the mechanics of the story. I have an entire series of letters and insane writings that at least one of the main characters needs to read, and I'm already careening toward some big, emotional and triumphant climaxes in their story arcs, and the ending will need to come soon after. I might just put them in an Alt Linchpin and give the MCs just enough information to finish the story. Yes, the ending is already written, I know exactly how it ends. The only problem is how to get them there.

TEXT ADVENTURE: I downloaded Twine. My first game is actually not going to be Linchpin, but more transformation-oriented like The Masculine Mystique, except with dialogue and action choices that will actually mean something instead of you choosing to do something and the narrative smacking you down or even punishing you for doing it. Also, steampunk.

  1. Wonderful! T wine is a nice little program. I'm writing something myself, where there shall be bad ends. There ARE already multiple paths, too :)

  2. Yeah, after reading some things that take gender-bending more seriously and also dealing with my IRL gender problems, I can't enjoy a lot of TG hentai anymore. Everyone has a gender identity, gender dysphoria is a thing, and if not treated it can destroy someone's life and drive them to suicide. And yet a lot of media pretends it doesn't exist, or is just a slight discomfort, or conveniently the protagonist identifies more with their new sex than their old one.

This is the first story I've seen that deals with it realistically while *also* having porn and sex. Possibly because while you're gender-bent and not enjoying it, sex could easily be traumatic. Even romance would be weird and uncomfortable, at best - and I get the feeling that that's not what most people want to write.

    tldr thanks <3
